About your Host
Shekinah grew up on the largest floating logging village in the world located outside of Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska. She has been an entrepreneur since 9 years old when at her very first job she rowed around the floating village collecting garbage in her single-man inflatable raft. Shekinah has worked in multiple industries ranging from roughneck work, teaching and management in the oil and gas industry of Prudhoe Bay to commercial fishing out of Dutch Harbor. She has also spent many years working in the hospitality industry and medical industry which has fostered a love of all people from all walks of life. She has a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, is a certified Emergency Medical Technician, and a licensed Kenai River Guide, with multiple years of experience fishing the Kenai River.
Shekinah has always loved the outdoors and has had an adventurous spirit since she was a very little girl. Because she loves to share Alaska with everyone, she obtained her Kenai River Guide’s License. Her ability to navigate the river, her love of fishing, and her desire to protect one of Alaska’s most precious resources keeps her on the river throughout the year.
As an Alaskan outdoors woman, Shekinah presents a unique opportunity to draw men and women to the back country of Alaska. Over the years she has learned to navigate the weather, environmental patterns, operate a boat, operate ATV’s and snowmobiles, fish, shoot, hike, and camp in many various environments across the Kenai Peninsula and wants every visitor’s adventure to always end with a happy ending so is ready to offer her advice to anyone. It is her love of the outdoors that inspires her to want to share Alaska with people of all walks of life from around the world and foster a love of nature for everyone.
